Our PTA offers a variety of programs to help parents, students, and our community succeed. Want to volunteer? Please contact our volunteer coordinator (volunteer form).
The spring Book Fair is the best way to connect kids with books they want to read while supporting your school's reading curriculum. The Book Fair also helps build classroom and school libraries and home libraries, too.
Box-top donations are used to purchase new equipment for the school. Use this convenient box-top sheet to collect and send your box tops to school. Plus, now you can earn bonus box tops when you shop. Visit Box Tops for Education online and start giving back to your school with every purchase.
The PTA bulletin board is a great way to post timely information and themes related to upcoming HSES PTA events and programs. The bulletin board is located directly outside of the computer lab at the front entrance of the school.
A Wake County sponsored program that emphasizes character development. Parent volunteers deliver monthly character conversations in the classroom August through April. See more information on each month's character trait on the Events calendar. The HSES website lists all of the character traits and our character-building programs. http://hollyspringses.wcpss.net/
Show your school spirit by joining other students, HSES families, teachers, and staff as we support local restaurants and raise money for our PTA. Cheeto the Cheetah will join us each Cheetah Pride Night and there may be special surprises as well. (You never know who will be serving your fries or slicing your pizza.) If you love to host a good party, then this committee may be right for you.
This annual September event continues the environmentally conscious tradition of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" by showing new (and tried and true) ways to re-purpose materials and limit waste. Bicycle safety is also taught by the Holly Springs Police Department.
Responsible for gathering, compiling, and publishing our annual school directory.
Approximately once per month an e-mail with upcoming events and programs, as well as reminders for PTA members, will be sent to HSES PTA members' e-mail accounts.
Promote the fall fundraiser to students/parents. Includes distributing the information, sending reminders, collecting order forms and money, and organizing order pick up days.
Help sponsor monthly events for our teachers and staff including teacher appreciation week. Also coordinate events for our families including a tissue tea for our kindergarten parents and dinners at general PTA meetings.
After classroom preparation about voting, elections and the political process, students take part in a voting experience the first Tuesday in November using a ballot that mirrors that of the adults with the same candidates and issues. This “real life” practice dispels the mysteries of the voting process and reinforces the knowledge and skills gained through Kids Voting classroom activities.
Manage and maintain the PTA membership information. Our membership team is responsible for prepping and providing PTA membership forms at Open Houses, Meet and Greets, and Kindergarten Orientation. In addition to organizing the forms and making sure that each person receives their membership card, the team is required to enter all of the information gathered into a statewide databases. Our VP of Membership is also the first point of contact for many new parents interested in volunteering, and therefore forwards that information to the appropriate VP and the Volunteer Coordinator.
PTA Board member terms are not indefinite. When Board members terms are expiring, or if they will be stepping down for any other reason at the end of the school year, a Nominating Committee is formed so that any potential PTA Board candidates can put their “hat in the ring.”
O' Holly Night is our largest fundraiser for our teachers. All monies from this winter carnival go back to all teachers to spend on much-needed supplies for their classrooms. O' Holly Night is a time for families to get together for food (fundraiser for the 5th grade field trip), games, and our famous basket raffle!
Encourage families to link their retail rewards cards to HSES, collect funds, and document progress. It is a fast, almost effortless way for our school to raise thousands of dollars per year! Read more...
Develop and maintain good media relations to encourage positive coverage of PTA and school events.
Students at each grade level compete with one another and challenge themselves to read the most (number of books or hours, depending on grade level) ... impressing their family and teachers!
The National PTA Reflections is an arts recognition program that provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and receive positive recognition for original artwork inspired by a pre-selected theme while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education. Students may submit an entry in any of the six art categories; Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography and Film/Video Production. Entries are first judged at the school level and selected works are then chosen to represent the school at each subsequent level; school, county, district, state and nation level. The Holly Springs Elementary School PTA proudly displays all artwork submitted for the Reflections Program in the school throughout the year and all participants are recognized.
Congratulations to our 09-10 Reflections winners!
Our hallways are quieter and safer due to the concerted efforts of interested, well-respected “upperclassmen.” These 5th graders are selected and provided training on how to recognize well-behaved students and slow down the occasional runner!
HSES has a School Improvement Team (SIT) that meets one Tuesday per month. Parents are invited to attend, but two parent/community representatives and two alternatives are selected each year to make sure that parents voices are heard and considered.
This annual April event is held during Math and Science Family Fun Night. Consider participating in this wonderful opportunity to enrich your child’s education and fuel their curious minds. All students will complete a science fair project and make a display board.
Offers HSES school and cheetah products at Open Houses, Meet and Greets, General PTA Meetings, and other PTA events to show our "Cheetah Pride." Need something before our next event? You may also complete an order form at home and send it to school with your child. Merchandise will be sent home in your child's backpack. Online ordering is also available for spirit wear hair accessories.

Promote the spring fundraiser to students/parents. Includes distributing the information, sending reminders, collecting order forms and money, and organizing order pick up days.
Staffed by PTA volunteers, the student store offers fun, affordable school supplies and treats priced at 25 ¢, 50¢, and $1 each. Through the end of September, the store will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 8 to 8:30 AM. After that, the store will be open Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Check the Events calendar for exact dates.
Hosts our school's most talented for the entire community to enjoy.
Starting with the 2009-2010 school year, HSES PTA began offering grants to teachers interested in purchasing something just a little above and beyond what their classroom budget might normally call for, but that they felt would truly enhance their students' learning experience. For example, a team of teachers requested monies for end of grade learning guides that they felt would help best prepare their students for certain sections of the EOGs. If you are prepared to work for and with the teachers, as well as do the bulk of your work at the very end of one academic year, and the very beginning of the next, then Teacher Grants might be the spot for you.
Provides other options and activities directed away from the television, computer, and video gaming screens.
Help organize parent volunteers for classroom assistance as well as PTA and school-wide programs and events.
